Laser Toning for Melasma
Melasma is a common acquired pigmentary disorder among skin type III and V. Attempts to treat melasma with lasers and other light sources that target melanin have frequently resulted in irritation, PIH, other complications and on occasions, worsening of the melasma, especially in Asian patients.
Doctors using Spectra VRM/II systems from Lutronic have reported excellent success rates with a new approach to melasma. The approach called 'Laser Toning by VRM' is an advanced treatment that takes advantage of the flexibility of the Spectra VRM II Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser to penetrate and target melanin in the deep dermis making it ideal for dermal and mixed types of melasma.
Laser Toning by VRM is a non-ablative procedure and patients can typically complete treatments without the use of topical anesthetics and return to their normal daily routines immediately afterwards. Treatments are repeated 5 to 10 times at intervals of between 7 and 10 days until the melasma is no longer visible.
Melasma is an easily irritated and recurring skin disorder and most peeling therapies are only suitable for epidermal melasma. The uniform beam profile and short pulse width of the Spectra VRM Series are very important in achieving reliable and predictable clinical results without any significant risk of adverse reactions.
Laser Toning by VRM is a simple, effective treatment with high patient satisfaction levels and can take as little as ten minutes per session. Treatments can be combined with other complimentary therapies to achieve multiple clinical advantages with little or no risk of side effects, making it the ideal treatment for epidermal and dermal melasma.

Tattoo
Just as tattooing is enjoying increasing popularity
among young people there is also a growing need
for tattoo removal or modification. Tattoos that
may once have represented a special moment or
relationship can later become source of considerable
embarrassment and hamper social relationships
or progress at work. Because there has been a trend
towards brighter more colorful inks and because
the tattoo industry is largely unregulated, inks can
contain a wide variety of compounds and successful
removal of tattoos requires a laser with both power
and flexibility.
We all appreciate the healing power of light and know how powerful the rays of the sun can be. The Lutronic Spectra system channels concentrated light to carefully break down the inks of a tattoo into tiny fragments without damaging the surrounding skin-allowing the body to naturally dispose of the tiny ink particles. Although not immediate and often requiring repeated treatments, the process is safe, permanent and usually yields dramatic results. The Lutronic Spectra System works on any kind of tattoo, professional, amateur, cosmetic, traumatic or colored. For more information ask your doctor about tattoo removal with a Lutronic Spectra Laser or contact us for a list of clinicians that may be able to help.
Enlarged Skin Pores
Pores are an opening into a sebaceous gland or hair follicle and secrete oil to lubricate and protect the surface of the skin. They play a vital role in skin physiology and are often barely visible on those with drier skin. Individuals with oily, thicker skin tend to have larger, more noticeable pores. Enlarged pores are often due to sun damage, aging and the overproduction of sebum and can cause the epidermis to thicken and the dermis to lose its elasticity. Acne vulgaris and enlarged pores often go hand-in-hand. Dead skin cells, sebum, skin oils, and colonizing bacteria, such as Propionibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermis), choke the follicular opening while expanding the diameter of the pore. SpectraPeel from Lutronic represents the latest in non-ablative skin rejuvenation procedures. SpectraPeel?? delivers an effective and long lasting treatment for enlarged pores while tightening the entrance of pores and stimulating collagen regeneration. SpectraPeel is a carbon assisted laser peeling system that not only solves multiple issues relating to large pores including the reduction of sebum and controlling inflammatory acne but also has a general beneficial effect on skin tone and laxity. In short SpectraPeel?? is the multi-functional treatment of choice for enlarged facial pores.
How does SpectraPeel work?
SpectraPeel induces superficial peeling as a result of photomechanical action and removes excessive sebum, exf oliates the upper layer of skin and unplugs the pores. First 40 n carbon particles are penetrated into the pores. Next the energy from the Lutronic Spectra laser is absorbed by the skin and explodes the carbon particles. This process causes the inner walls of the pores to reduce in size by way of stimulation and mechanical damage. The subsequent dermal remodelling effect with the Lutronic Spectra in Q-switched mode promotes regeneration of collagen and recovers elasticity in the skin.
How many treatments are required?
In most cases, 3-5 treatments will be required for optimum and long lasting results. It is recommended that treatment be repeated every 2-4 weeks for pore size reduction. Return check-ups will be scheduled to monitor and maintain results.
How long will clinical results last?
While laser treatments are considered to be long lasting they are not permanent. Patients can help maintain their new appearance by carefully following the instructions of their physician on skin care and by avoiding excessive exposure to the sun.
What kind of risks are involved?
SpectraPeel? is a safe treatment that is performed on thousands of men and women each year with no major complications.
